What is the name of your business and what does your business do?

Rubin Health Center, we focus on education, and training of people to help them improve and minimize their pain. We use a variety of modalities from Active Release technique to Pilates, nutrition, personal training, various massage techniques, acupuncture, graston and functional movement screens. Also how grateful I am too the community for supporting me and helping me grow. We are now expanding our pilates studio. and creating a state of the art athlete recovery center.

Why did you start your business/what inspired your business/what do you love about your work?

I started in 1997 and was motivated to integrate therapies for optimal outcomes. I love hearing “I haven’t felt this good in a long time”.

What local businesses do you like to frequent?

Rollin Oats quite often, Hooks, and the Mutt Hutt.

Best thing about living in St. Petersburg:

Lots of music, and the breeze.

What’s your favorite ’90s jam?

Cold Play. No doubt.

What was the last gift you gave someone?

I gave a girl a plastic recycled bracelet (it didn’t work) lol. Gave my daughter a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. And my other daughter and her friend a trip to Barcelona and Mallorca; I went too.

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?

Wild horse out West.

What or who inspires you?

I’m inspired by people like Supreme court justice Thurgood Marshall, who literally saved lives and changed the course of humanity.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?

The funniest thing that happened to me, the airline lost my luggage on the way to a bike our from Stockholm to Copenhagen so I had to ride the first few days in Birkenstocks.

What do you work toward in your free time?

Camp around florida, yoga, bicycle, read (current book about Thurgood Marshall). I’m also expanding my business to include a full functioning therapy recovery room and expand the pilates studio. And I created a non profit, due-north-online.com, to educate the public on Florida’s environmental issues.

Any advice for your previous boss?

To my previous boss I would like to say thank you. The one before that, look at me now! lol

Favorite hangout in St. Pete:

Weedon Island or Ft. Desoto.

If you were elected mayor of St. Pete, what would be your first improvement?

Two things; first stop major construction until the sewage system can be updated to accommodate the amount of people and business that are coming to town. I might even take all of the millions we are putting into the pier and use it to create a beautiful infrastructure of greenways, bridges and outdoor space. Another thing I’d do is increase teachers salaries by 30% so that we would have the best teachers fighting to teach here. Creating the smartest most motivated students.

Your favorite quote:

“The actual is limited, but the possible is immense.”

What is the most encouraging word/statement you can receive?

Dad I trust and and respect you.
